Surf.direct is the perfect, jargon-free introduction to computers and the Internet for complete beginners.
Whether you want to send e-mails to family and friends in far flung places, do the weekly shop on-line or help your kids research their homework, Surf.direct will give you the skills you need to make modern technology work for you.

Study method / testing

The course starts with the very basics - using the mouse and finding your way around the keyboard. Once your confidence and skills grow, you'll explore the different ways we use computers at home and at work. The course explains what software and windows are and how to use them. And then it's off into cyberspace you'll be shown how to log on to the Internet, how to send and receive e-mails and how to find information on the World Wide Web (WWW). On completion you will receive a certificate from learndirect, there is no exam. The course modules are as follows and can be studied either online or via CD-ROM;
